ARTIST STATEMENT
 From direct observation, I am inspired to create paintings that convey the inherent beauty of exotic people, places, and objects. Passionate about my subject, I seek to paint what I see while adding my own visceral spirit. Sensual in composition, technique, and subject matter, my paintings articulate open-ended stories while stirring the hearts and minds of the viewers.
Accurate drawing skills, sound painting techniques, and strong compositions are the foundation of my paintings. Using minimal brushstrokes to obtain visual effect, I create a sensual painting surface that, when viewed from a distance, results in strikingly realistic imagery. Although realistic depictions are my main goal, it is most important that the subject painted “feels” like the real thing.
As an artist, I want to share my passion with those who appreciate the beauty, hope, and inspiration that truly great art can achieve.
BIOGRAPHY
 JT Harding is an American-born representational painter who values the aesthetics and philosophical principles of the Humanist Realism Tradition. In the past, Mr. Harding has also applied his creative talents as both a commercial art director and a marketing executive, adding to the success of several Philadelphia advertising agencies and corporations. Today, he is engaged in the lifetime pursuit of transforming his legacy into works of art that will transcend the barriers of time and place.
Like most important painters throughout history, Harding gains inspiration and influence through studying the styles and techniques used by the Old Masters including Joaquin Sorolla y Bastida, Anders Zorn, and John Singer Sargent. He believes in building solid fundamental skills that provide a strong foundation for developing art with depth, meaning, and intrinsic value. To that end, JT studies under living masters from Studio Incamminati, a Philadelphia-based Atelier, founded by the Maestro Nelson Shanks. It is JT's aspiration to teach and inspire future generations of artists to carry on this important tradition.
The thread that weaves through Harding's depictions of contemporary concepts and subject matter is a bravura painting process that emphasizes minimal fresh and loose brushstrokes that, when viewed from a distance, come sharply into focus. It is evident through his sensually painted surface, the pleasure the artist derives from a deftly handled brush.
